Are you an experienced careers, recruitment or employability professional, committed to supporting students to successfully progress into graduate level employment by providing high-quality careers advice, training and coaching?

The UCLan London (UCLan London) is a new and ambitious, teaching-led provider of undergraduate education, primarily aimed at a widening participation and an adult learner student body.

Based in East India Docks, UCLan London students study subjects related to Psychology, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Public Health and Computing. The institution is in its infancy, having opened its doors in January 2024.

Continued growth in demand for our courses has led to the opportunity to introduce Employability Support to our professional services.

The Employability Team offers students and future alumni careers guidance and employability support during and after their studies.

We are currently implementing an ambitious strategy to support students to gain the skills they need for graduate career success and / or progression to postgraduate study, and adapting our curriculum so building and understanding Employability skills are of a key focus.

We expect to expand the support we offer to our students and as we develop our service, the scope of the role may change and grow, so you will also need to be adaptable and flexible.

If you are an experienced Careers Consultant or graduate recruitment specialist who is keen to support students to progress to graduate employment and who shares our belief in the transformative nature of education, then we would like to talk to you about opportunities at UCLAN.

You will have an honours degree and ideally relevant professional accreditation in Careers Guidance/Coaching or previous experience of careers work in an HE is setting.

Deputy Director of Studies (Academic Support)

About UCLan London

UCLan London, a partner of the University of Central Lancashire, is an ambitious, teaching focussed HE provider, primarily aimed at widening participation audience. Based in London’s East India Docks, the university currently delivers undergraduate courses related to Business, Computing, Health and Social Care, Public Health, Psychology and Mental Health and Wellbeing.

We are inviting applicants who are passionate in driving the strategic development of the academic support provision, designing intervention and support plans for students and oversee the quality of academic advice. We are therefore seeking an ambitious, driven and values-led professional with experience in delivering interventions and projects associated with academic support and outcomes.  

The Role

The Deputy Director of Studies (Academic Support) is a critical role at the UCLan London and will form part of the Director of Studies Office. Working closely with the Director of Studies and Academic Director (Quality and Student Experience) and wider colleagues, you will also be required in advising and resolving student issues, deputising for the Director of Studies in his absence and work closely with the both internal and external stakeholders. You may be required to represent the institution on relevant committees as appropriate.

To succeed in this role, you must be qualified to Masters level and have professional experience in areas relating to academic support. Knowledge and experience of university administration is essential, as is a proficiency in the use of MS Office applications. Applicants with experience and working knowledge with the Office for Students (OfS) and Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) will be desirable. You will also have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and in all styles, and ability to interact with academics and potential and current students in a way which enhances their experience.

Continued growth in demand for our student-centred courses has led to the opportunity to expand our Director of Studies team through the addition of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Lead. We are therefore seeking an ambitious, driven and values-led professional with experience in delivering and promoting academic integrity within the institution and attending to student issues and complaints.  

The Role

The Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Lead is a critical role at the UCLan London and will form part of the Director of Studies Office. Working closely with the Director of Studies and wider team within the Director of Studies Office, you will also be leading the academic misconduct and integrity case process as well as the responsibility for developing and maintaining the fitness to study process. You are required work closely with the both internal and external stakeholders and attend relevant student-centred committees as appropriate.

To succeed in this role, you must be qualified to Masters level and have professional experience, specifically relating to academic integrity and resolution of student issues. Knowledge and experience of university administration is essential, as is a proficiency in the use of MS Office applications.
