Entry requirements vary by programme and are designed to ensure that all students joining our university community have the knowledge and skills to thrive in their chosen field of study. Requirements are expressed as typical offers and may differ depending on your educational background, country of origin and individual circumstances.

Standard Entry Requirements
96 UCAS tariff points from 3 A Levels or equivalent, e.g. CCC.
Alternatively;
Irish Leaving Certificate: BBCCC.
Scottish Highers: BBCCC.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: DMM in a related subject.
International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points.
All applicants are required to have at least 3 GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
Candidates must demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.0 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification.
Candidates who meet the above entry criteria, but have been out of study for 5 years, will be required to pass an academic interview.
Foundation year Entry Requirements
40 UCAS tariff points
All applicants are required to have at least 3 GCSEs at grade D or grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
We also consider applications to level 3 entry from those who are not able to meet our normal course entry requirements but can demonstrate that they have achieved the required level of knowledge and skills and have the potential to benefit from the course, for example: through relevant work experience and professional development. Where work experience is submitted in place of formal qualifications, it will be carefully considered as part of the admissions process, provided it is directly relevant to the programme applied for and meets the required conditions set by the university. This includes satisfying the minimum total hours of work experience stipulated. As with all applications, this is assessed on an individual basis, ensuring that candidates who have gained practical, real-world knowledge and skills are given fair and equal consideration alongside those following a more traditional academic route.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification.
Interviews and English Proficiency Test
As part of the Admissions process, shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview, which forms an important part of how we assess each candidate’s suitability for their chosen programme. The interview allows us to gain a deeper understanding of your motivations, subject knowledge and potential beyond what is reflected in your academic qualifications alone.
In addition, applicants whose first language is not English may be required to demonstrate English language proficiency through our on-campus Password testing or an approved test such as IELTS or TOEFL. Both the interview and English proficiency requirements are not one-size-fits-all; they are determined on an individual basis, taking into account your personal circumstances and the specific qualifications you have provided. This tailored approach ensures that our assessment process is fair, transparent and reflective of each applicant’s unique background and abilities.
