Kate Stenson MA(Oxon) MBBS AICSM MD(Res) FRCS 

Kate grew up in Gloucestershire and attended St Peter's High School in Gloucester. She studied medicine at New College, Oxford University and then Imperial College London, qualifying as a doctor in 2004. She undertook her postgraduate training in general and then vascular surgery in London, Kent and Surrey. She completed a fellowship in endovenous surgery in southeast London. Her doctoral research was undertaken at St George's Hospital, London and focused on the use of polymer technology in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms. Kate was an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in vascular surgery at St George's between 2017 and 2021, the first woman to be appointed as lecturer in any surgical speciality at the hospital. She completed her training in vascular surgery in 2022 and was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at St George's in the same year. 

Kate works at St George's and Kingston Hospitals and has an interest in treating lower limb and carotid arterial disease, venous disease, aortic aneurysms, as well as vascular trauma. She holds the positions of departmental lead for clinical governance and vascular trauma. Kate has a particular interest in education and mentoring. She teaches on national and international faculties, as well as lectures for medical students, resident doctors and multidisciplinary colleagues. 

Kate lives in London, with her husband and teenage son. She has a great interest in (almost all) sport and music. She is a keen runner and cyclist. She is a clarinettist, having spent much time playing in orchestras and as a soloist in London and Gloucestershire. She was often to be found on the river, whilst at university, as a cox. She represented both Oxford and Imperial, including a Boat Race win with OULRC.
