Position: Lecturer – Psychology
Location: On-campus, East London
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full-time
Contract type: Permanent
Start date: As soon as possible
UCLan London, a proud partner of the University of Lancashire, is an ambitious, teaching-focussed Higher Education provider, primarily aimed at a widening participation audience. Based in London’s East India Docks, UCLan London currently offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to Business, Computing, Health and Social Care, Public Health, Psychology and Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Continued growth in demand for our student-centred courses has led to the opportunity to expand our exceptional delivery team through the addition of a full-time lecturer, in areas related to our BPS-accredited Psychology courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We are looking for an experienced lecturer with a solid grounding and applicable qualifications and experience in all areas related to Psychology, including Cognitive Psychology; Social and Developmental Psychology and Quantitative and Qualitative Research. The successful applicant will be employed to lecture on a range of relevant modules, with possible module leading and curriculum development opportunities available, in areas specific to expertise. Teaching across related courses and within an academic’s areas of expertise is also a common aspect of our approach to delivery.
If you are enthusiastic and motivated about your subject and supporting students to develop their academic skills, share our belief in the transformational nature of education, and wish to be rewarded for your teaching excellence, then we would like to talk to you about opportunities at the UCLan London.
You should hold a minimum of a master's degree level in a relevant discipline and have experience of teaching within Higher Education at undergraduate level. A sound understanding of contemporary issues in Psychology and related fields is essential. Experience of postgraduate level teaching is desirable, but not essential. A strong industry background and the ability to apply professional practice to teaching will be advantageous, as will experience of supporting and engaging students from diverse educational, cultural and social backgrounds. You should have demonstrable organisational and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands. You should have effective interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to work effectively with colleagues and deliver high-quality teaching and student support.
Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for the role. You must have an existing right to live and work in the United Kingdom without restriction or caveat.
All academic staff are required to teach face-to-face on campus.
UCLan London offers a range of staff benefits including 25 days' annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays, Nest pension scheme, free library services, Employee Assistance Programme, and CPD opportunities.
To apply, please send your CV along with a cover letter demonstrating how you meet the role requirements, to AcademicResourcing@london.uclan.ac.uk
